Even though I hate chocolate, I decided to venture into the DIY chocolate baking/cooking zone and attempt (key word here) to make a chocolate bowl.
First you need a balloon. Note: a smaller balloon probably would have been better, but I didn’t have one so there’s that. Other note: this is definitely a two person project. I did this on my own and the number of times the balloon fell over and/or fell on me was way too high.
I then took some Hershey’s milk chocolate chips and melted it to around room temperature.
Take a dollop and place it on a pan. I covered my pan in aluminum foil to contain the mess I was about to face.
Then start to cover your balloon evenly with the melted chocolate. I made the mistake of making my bowl huge so don’t do that. Place the balloon on the dollop once you finish covering it.
I put the bowl in the freezer for 30 minutes to allow the bowl to set into the balloon shape. After that, I got Hershey’s Vanilla chips and melted those to room temperature.
This is where I tried to be artsy and pipe fun designs onto the bowl. I put the melted vanilla into a Ziplock bag and cut a small hole in the corner so I could pipe.
After that fail, I put the balloon into the freezer again. As usual, I forgot that I had it and didn’t get it out for two days, so that might be a problem (or not, I will never know). Keeping the balloon in the freezer for a good 3-4 hours should be good though. After letting it sit on the counter for 10 minutes, I cut a small hole from the top and let it deflate slowly.
And that’s it! I went ahead and added vanilla ice cream and strawberries with homemade syrup to it and we ate it for dessert. I hope yours turns out better (much better) than mine. Enjoy!
