During the first few weeks of my grandparents’ visit, we decided to show them around our little town. Since we don’t have a lot of big attractions down here like malls and museums, we decided to show them some of the natural (and man-made) beauties of the area.
The first stop was the Dismal Swamp. There’s a lot of history about the area, which you can read about here.
My grandpa HAD to get a photo with the large private boats docked at the park.
After creeping around the dock, we decided to look around the park itself and the little museum that showcased some of the area’s history and wildlife.
A few days later we took them out to see the blimps near the Coast Guard base.
The blimps (or airships) are used for surveillance and communication. You can learn more about the site here.
