You know how I said that I was going to post more and keep this blog up-to-date? HA y’all should know better than to trust me on that. Since I’ve been gone, I have completed my OBGYN, Pediatrics and Surgery rotations! And all I have left is Internal Medicine. Wow, time flies when you are stressed out and procrastinate. To make it up to y’all, here are some things I heard during my OBGYN rotation!
Finally — another post! And this one features the last of the quotes from family medicine! It’s a short one, I know, but I hope you can still find something to laugh at! Hope you enjoy Volume 28!
I’m halfway through family medicine! Although I am learning a lot about the field, I’m also learning a lot from my patients. And by learning, I mean listening to them say or do the most ridiculous things. And the attendings and residents aren’t that far behind either. Hope you enjoy this edition of Things I Heard in Medical School! Let me know in the comments down below.
I just started my family medicine rotation! So far, I am loving it. The residents are helpful, the attendings are great, and the patients are all over the place. And here I thought I was going to hear the craziest stuff during psychiatry — I have been proven wrong. So here is Vol. 25! Continue reading
I just finished my first clinical rotation for year three! Though I will miss psychiatry, I am excited to go to family medicine! But before I start this next rotation, I wanted to share the last batch of quotes from my final days in the psychiatry ED. This one is definitely shorter than last week’s post, so make sure to check out Volume 23 if you haven’t already! Continue reading
When you get assigned to the Emergency Department with psychiatry, you imagine seeing a lot of individuals with drug overdoses and suicide attempts. What you don’t expect is the horrendously foul (yet ridiculously entertaining) language that comes with the territory. And not from the patients — from the nurses. So here’s Things I Heard in Medical School: Vol. 23!
I’m officially two-thirds of the way done with my first clinical rotation! Psychiatry has actually been a lot of fun. Not only did I really get to appreciate the field and learn from amazing attendings, I also collected tons of great quotes. So with that, here’s Volume 22! Continue reading
I’m back! I took a bit of a break from blogging to focus on exams and learning how to become a functioning member of society again. And now, I am officially a third year medical student! Though I don’t have any more formal lectures in a classroom, I still get to hear ridiculous things from doctors, nurses, residents, patients and anyone in between. If you are within 10 feet from me, chances are that I am listening to whatever ridiculous thing you are saying.
As my first week of rotations comes to an end, I wanted to recap my time with some of the things I heard in the halls of the hospital. So, without any more stalling, here is TIHIMS: VOL 21! Continue reading
Oh hey! I know, I know. I’ve been gone for a few weeks. Medical school and FINALLY BEING ABLE TO SLEEP can do that to you. But I am back in America (dang y’all, a lot has changed since I left), and that means I have to learn how to assimilate back into the real world. Before I have to enter the outside world, I wanted to reflect on the past year and share some of the “things 2017 gave to me.” You know, like that cheesy Christmas song with five golden rings and french hens and something about something in a tree? Okay never mind, just continue reading.
As some of us finish off our last lab for Term 5 (I know half of y’all didn’t come — I’m judging you), I wanted to gift you all with the last installment of Things I Heard in Medical School! It was a fun run, this series. Here’s to hoping that clinical years has just as much nonsense as these 2.5 years of basic sciences did! So, until next time, did I catch you saying something ridiculous? Hope you enjoy!
